Investigation Underway at Munich's Federal Police Directorate Regarding Alleged Smuggling of Libyan and Chinese Migrants
In a recent incident, the Rosenheim Federal Police Inspectorate denied entry into Germany to 15 individuals, consisting of nine Libyans and six Chinese nationals, who were attempting to enter the country illegally.
The circumstances surrounding the organization of the trips for both groups are still under investigation. Initial findings suggest that both groups were guided by smugglers, with no specific individual or political body directly identified in connection with supporting their attempted illegal border crossings.
Nine of the individuals were originally from Libya and were traveling in a bus from Bologna to Kiefersfelden. The other six individuals were Chinese nationals traveling by train from Verona to Rosenheim. However, neither group had the required entry papers, leading to their detainment at the border control points.
The six Chinese did not have tickets or papers, and their train journey ended at Rosenheim station after a previous entry control. Similarly, the nine Libyans were unable to present the necessary entry documents and had to leave the bus at the border control point.
Both groups were stopped at Kiefersfelden for border control. The Federal Police Inspectorate in Rosenheim, which is responsible for the counties of Miesbach, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the city and county of Rosenheim, is particularly active against cross-border crime. The approximately 450 inspectorate members work between Chiemsee and Zugspitze.
The suspected contact person for the Chinese group is currently under investigation. One of the Chinese individuals stated that they had traveled to Turkey, Bosnia, Croatia, and Italy before taking the train to Munich. The Federal Police Station in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Rosenheim Federal Police Inspectorate, plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of train passengers and train facilities on approximately 370 kilometers of track and in about 70 train stations and stops.
The Rosenheim Federal Police Inspectorate also works mainly against the smuggling of foreigners and irregular, illegal migration along a 200-kilometer-long section of the German-Austrian border.
